Erik ten Hag, the boss of Manchester United, does not want a vote of confidence from Jim Ratcliffe

Amidst growing rumors over Jim Ratcliffe’s future, Erik ten Hag has said that he does not seek a public vote of confidence from the Manchester United boss.

Ratcliffe, who just bought a 25% stake in the team from the Glazer family, is now in charge of United’s football operations.

The British entrepreneur is reportedly considering replacing Ten Hag at Old Trafford with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane after the Dutchman’s two-season tenure.

Ten Hag, the former Ajax manager, has had difficulty building on his early success after United’s six-year trophy drought was ended by winning the League Cup the previous season.

A 2-1 loss to Fulham at home on Saturday dealt a further blow to United’s slim chances of making it into the Champions League with a top four Premier League finish the following season.

Ten Hag will come under further pressure if United, who have one more opportunity to win a trophy this season, lose to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday in the FA Cup fifth round.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, is emphatic that he is not interested in hearing Ratcliffe offer any endorsements.

“I don’t care; I’m here and I have a three-season deal. He told reporters on Tuesday, “I don’t care what’s going around me; I’m just focused on the process.”

“I have had several conversations with Jim Ratcliffe, but I particularly speak with Sir Dave Brailsford, so I am familiar with the subject at hand. They seem to believe in me, and I have strong beliefs.

“I’m just thinking about the team, and I have to come up with ways to help them work as efficiently as possible. It’s crucial to keep your attention on this and not let outside sounds divert you.

“We are discussing the future, a future that we share together.”
